hmm..ain't the world a strange place? on the one hand, some women are oppressed and are forced to be silent or be stoned. i saw a lady the other day..all covered up except her hands and eyes. i knnow her religion mandates it but isn't it a little extreme? i saw this in singapore..though i can't be sure she's singaporean. i really doubt she is. so anyway..how is it they allow themselves to be treated like this, when in other parts of the world, in older days, women died to fight for women's rights..like suffrage.. yet on the other end of the spectrum..we have women who practise double standards (i admit i do too, at times, but only when i'm truly annoyed! haha)..they demand for equal rights in one aspect, yet ask for special treatment 'because-we're-women' in other aspects. apparently most societies started as matriachal ones..in china at least..but along the way..men became smart (haha..not smart-er mind you! (: ) and realised power is a pretty exciting thing to hold in their hands.. so i'm just ranting away....
anyway..i saw legend of the falls this morning..and was inspired to go get the book..so i did..from the library..and haha...brad pitt is on the book cover!!! i'm such a bimbo! oh..this yr's miss singapore universe finalists aren't all that brilliant..i'm beginning to suspect it's a pre-requisite..haha..i think our last pretty ms s'pore universe is jamie teo..(:
